authorPOINT 3.0.1 Release
Release Note – 2.1

Overview
November 23 2005.
This release involves updates for authorPOINT 3.0 and Content Manager 3.0. These involve bug fixes and some new features as listed below.

People and groups affected by this release.
1. End User (Instructor/Presenter)

New features/Changes (in this release)
• Better smart installer with bug fixes (Activation issue in authorPOINT 3.0)
• Embedded Links
   o In Windows media outputs- The links will be visible on Links tab as well as on slides.
   o In Flash outputs- The links will be visible on Links tab.
• Embedded and linked media files in Windows Media output.
• Wait Screen while loading heavy pre-recorded media files and at the time of agn compilation    when a capture is over.
• Check for available space before building a presentation in CM.
• Messages will also appear as Popup CM’s presentations list.
• Pre-loader in Windows media presentations
   o Will be there in presentations when they are played online (Uploaded to authorSTREAM and       other FTP server using Publish menu in CM).
   o Will not be there when presentations are played from local machine.
• Bugs updated:
   o Windows media output
       • Animations in slides.
       • Text wrap in author Info tab.
       • Embedded and linked media objects in office 2000
• In Flash output
   o PowerPoint files with slide 0 will be processed.
   o PowerPoint files with only slide master (missing title master) will be processed.
   o Code also updated for missing text.
   o Special Characters in slide notes.
   o Color of Links in links tab.
   o Player on UNIX.
   o Math PowerPoint bug solved.

Known issues in this release
• Compatibility issue with Apreso
• Network installation is not supported.
• Does not work on non-English OS Settings.
• Launch window takes time to appear if number of video/audio capture drivers installed on user’s    machine is more than a few
• Few web cams may get stuck for a few seconds after user clicks continue after pause state    while capturing. Though this will not affect the recording of file, which will be perfectly recorded.
• CD/DVD writer in Distribute content does not work on restricted user login. Under normal    circumstances even Nero does not allow restricted users to write a CD or DVD.
• Does not support USB Mic.
• Annotations
   o Available only for Flash outputs.
   o Overlaps in certain scenarios such as
   o Go To some other slide in PowerPoint
   o And using a slide more than once in a presentations capture.
• Sometimes random behavior of Animations in HTML output
• Flash output
   o Limited support for animations. (reference to detailed document on animations supported in       Flash output)
   o No transitions
   o Displaced bullets in some instances.
   o Picture bullet not supported.
   o Audio only presentations supported.
• CM is not able to process some AVI files.
• PowerPoint files with slides starting from 0 are not build into Windows media output.
• Embedded and Linked media files
   o Supported only in Windows Media output.
   o Not applicable for Flash objects. They will be visible in the Windows media presentation but if       they are moved/removed from the original location, they will not play.
   o Media objects embedded in master slides will get copied in all the slides folders hence       increasing the presentation slide.
   o Sound used in slide transitions not supported.
• Media conversion is not accurate at times especially when number of pauses and re-records is    more. Although this is rare. One of the following things happen:
   o Lips are not synced perfectly
   o Bit rate of the media file may decrease
   o Quality might get reduced.
   o Fast encoding in case of pre-recorded/live captured WMA.

System Requirements
On a fresh system you need to install the following tools/applications in order to run authorPOINT.
   • Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 or above.
