Overview

The authorGEN family proudly declares the release of authorPOINT 3.6 with new
features as listed below.

1. End User (Instructor/Presenter)
New in version 3.6:

The term 'Presenter' will be used for author in authorPOINT 3.6
-
authorPOINT will work on all windows 2000 or higher and ms-Office including
non-English OS and office environments.

30 day trial period
-
No water mark on any of the outputs
-
Flash presentation builds will be limited to 2 minutes. The complete
content
will be captured but the output will be limited to 2 minutes.
-
After 30 day trial is over, The Windows media output and Real media
output will
be available and will produce full length presentations - FREE, in
the trial
mode.

Flash build options (including Pocket PC Flash) will be
disabled.

On activation of authorPOINT
-
Flash build options (including Pocket PC flash) will be enabled

Building the presentation again into Flash will output full
length
presentations.

authorPOINT Registration changed

InstallAP will not ask for keys in any case from the users. If earlier
version
was a trial version then the trial will be reset.

When Content Manager starts for the first time, it will prompt users for
the
key. This dialog box has a 'Remind Me Later' check box; selecting that one
will
make CM to prompt the user for keys every time they start CM till it is
unregistered.

Upgrade to authorPOINT plus menu item will always be available in CM's
Updates
menu using which the user can upgrade to full version at any time.

authorPOINT updates in Content Manager.

This helps to keep authorPOINT updated with latest features and bug fixes.

authorPOINT can be updated only by the users who are logged in with
administrative privileges.

Customer experience program
-
When the Content Manager starts for the first time, the user will be
prompted
requesting they share authorPOINT usage information with us periodically
and
automatically. The information will be collected in the Content Manager and
sent to our development team

This preference can also be set or reset from the Content Manager's
Help menu's
'Our Customer Experience Program' sub item.

authorPOINT Plug-in

A new, easier to use user interface for 'Launch authorPOINT' and 'Capture
screen'.

'Advance Settings' have been moved to the Content Manager.

Option to change the annotation pen's color for annotations using a color
palette.

Grouping of controls on Presentation Recording bar.

Check pre-recorded files (especially AVIs) before capture, to determine
if the
Content Manager is able to build these.

Known issues solved

Animations/objects on the flash files will not be skipped on moving the slider
forward.
Known issues in this release
-
Network installation is not supported.
-
Few web cams may get stuck for a few seconds after user clicks continue after
pause state while capturing. Though this will not affect the recording of file,
which will be perfectly recorded.

CD/DVD writer in 'Distribute Content' does not work on restricted user login.

Does not support USB Mic.
-
Sometimes-random behavior of animations in HTML output.
-
Narrations are supported only on office XP and higher.

Flash output
-
Not all animations are supported in flash output. [reference to detailed

Picture bullet not supported.

Animations with emphasis effect not supported with this issue.

Content Manager is not able to process some AVI files for which video codec is
not installed in the respective system.

Embedded and Linked media files
-
Inconsistent behavior.
-
Not applicable for Flash objects. They will be visible in the Windows media
presentation but if they are moved/removed from the original location, they
will not play.
-
Media objects embedded in master slides will get copied in all the slides
folders hence increasing the presentation slide.
-
Sound used in slide transitions not supported.
System Requirements
On a fresh system you need to install the following tools/applications in order
to run authorPOINT.
-
Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 or above.
-
Flash player 8 or above for viewing Desktop Flash presentations.
-
IIS on the server needs to be configured to run FLVs from server. Add a new
entry to MIME types: extension= .flv, MIME type = video/x-flv.
How to install
-
Smart Installer that downloads and installs only the files which are required
on a particular computer.
-
Complete installer downloads the complete setup, approx. 130MB.
Note:InstallAP will uninstall authorGEN for PowerPoint 2.0, authorPOINT
3.0, authorPOINT 3.01, and authorPOINT 3.5 automatically. All other versions
will have to be uninstalled manually.
Registration
-
authorPOINT 3.6 can be registered and upgraded from trial version to
authorPOINT Plus (the complete version of authorPOINT 3.6) by entering the
activation keys in Content manager.
Note: authorPOINT 3.6 has a new setup of activation keys. Old keys of
earlier authorPOINT versions will not work. Contact sales@authorgen.com to get
your set of keys.
