authorPOINT 3.7 Release

The authorGEN family proudly declares the release of authorPOINT 3.7 with new features as listed below.

People and groups affected by this release.
1. End User (Instructor/Presenter)

New in version 3.7:

• authorPOINT 3.7 has a new Pointer Tool available during capture process on the slide-show window. This along with annotations will help you communicate the meaning of your presentations better. This however will only be visible in flash outputs.
• New VU meter on authorPOINT launch window to verify the receptivity of your mic.
• Move To feature in Content Manager using which you can move your presentation(s) anywhere on your machine keeping them visible.
• Package to SCORM option in Content Manager to enable users to transform their authorPOINT Flash presentations to SCORM compliant presentations, which can be directly loaded on LMS.
• ADA compliant Flash player.
• authorPOINT FTP-upload has been optimized for speed.

• Customer experience: The 'Customer Experience Program' option, which was a part of CM earlier, will now be asked at the time of installation. The installer will have an option to launch authorPOINT on successful installation
• Builds: Includes the default setting for Windows Media Build (Broadband). The audio/video file recorded at the time of capture will be used without any processing on Broadband media setting for Windows Media builds reducing time for build process.
• Flash Player: Update for the flash player. Fixed the issue of online playback. While playing presentation online, it used stop after small intervals of time and did not play again on itself. This update fixes this issue.  

• Media conversion process has been updated for quality.
• Animations/objects on the flash files will not be skipped on moving the slider forward.

• Network installation is not supported.
• Few web cams may get stuck for a few seconds after user clicks continue after pause state while capturing. Though this will not affect the recording of file, which will be perfectly recorded.
• CD/DVD writer in 'Distribute Content' does not work on restricted user login.
• Does not support USB Microphone.
• Sometimes-random behavior of animations in HTML output.
• Narrations are supported only in office XP and higher.
• Flash output
  • Not all animations are supported in flash output.( See the complete details of features available in flash)
  • Picture bullet not supported.
  • Animations with emphasis effect not supported with this issue.
• Content Manager is not able to process some AVI files for which video codec is not installed in the respective system.
• Embedded and Linked media files
  • Inconsistent behavior.
  • Not applicable for Flash objects. They will be visible in the Windows media presentation but if they are moved/removed from the original location, they will not play.
  • Media objects embedded in master slides will get copied in all the slides folders hence increasing the presentation slide.
  • Sound used in slide transitions not supported.

• Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 or above.
• Flash player 8 or above for viewing Desktop Flash presentations.
• IIS on the server needs to be configured to run FLVs from server. Add a new entry to MIME types: extension= .flv, MIME type = video/x-flv.

• Smart Installer that downloads and installs only the files which are required on a particular computer.
• Complete installer downloads the complete setup, approx. 130MB.
  

• authorPOINT 3.7 can be registered and upgraded from trial version to authorPOINT Plus (the complete version of authorPOINT 3.7) by entering the activation keys in Content manager.
